Justin D. Pauls is an associate in the Business, Finance & Restructuring Department of Weil’s Houston office. He has practiced in business reorganization and insolvency since 2008.
Mr. Pauls has represented both creditors and debtors in chapter 11 proceedings, as well as in related litigation matters, including defendants in fraudulent transfer actions and debtors on appeals to the Second Circuit.
Mr. Pauls has also done extensive pro bono work, including representing a victim of parental abuse from Honduras in her successful application for Special Immigrant Juvenile Status, and representing the City of Houston as a volunteer prosecutor in Municipal Court.
Mr. Pauls received his BA, summa cum laude, from Louisiana State University in 2004 and his JD, summa cum laude, from the University of Pennsylvania Law School in 2007, where he was an editor of the University of Pennsylvania Law Review.
After graduating from law school, Mr. Pauls practiced in the areas of litigation and business reorganization in California, and later served as a law clerk to The Honorable Edward C. Prado of the United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit. He is a member of both the Texas and California bars.
