Joshua Schlenger is a Litigation associate in Weil’s New York office, where his practice focuses on several forms of complex litigation, including federal securities fraud and bankruptcy litigation, and state law breach of contract and fraudulent conveyance actions. Mr. Schlenger is also involved in advising clients on the litigation risk of business disputes and proposed transactions.
Mr. Schlenger has considerable trial experience, having been an active member of the trial team representing Vivendi in the 2012 multi-million dollar federal securities fraud and state law breach of warranty trial Liberty Media Corp., et al. v. Vivendi Universal, S.A., et al., in the United States District Court for the Southern District of New York. Mr. Schlenger has also worked on litigation matters for Lehman Brothers Holdings Inc., General Electric, Avon Products, Inc., Aeropostale, Inc., Johnson & Johnson, and Advent International Corp.
Mr. Schlenger devotes a significant portion of his time to pro bono work, including representing the plaintiffs in the highly publicized First Amendment civil rights case East End Eruv Association, Inc., et al. v. Village of Westhampton Beach, et al., now pending in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of New York.
Mr. Schlenger writes and publishes articles, which have appeared in the New York Law Journal and Metropolitan Corporate Counsel. Mr. Schlenger is also a participating member of the American Bar Association (ABA), where he has worked on multiple ABA programs and initiatives such as the ABA Section of Litigation 2012 Corporate Counsel CLE Seminar plenary session “‘Taking Away Plaintiff’s Exhibit A’: How to Avoid the Creation of Harmful Internal Documents.”
Mr. Schlenger received his J.D. from the University of Pennsylvania Law School, where he served as an editor on the Law Review, and his B.A. in Political Science and Philosophy from Queens College (CUNY), where he graduated summa cum laude.
