Joe Basile is managing partner of Weil's Boston office and a member of the firm's Corporate Department. He specializes in representing leading global corporations and private and sovereign investment funds in their most challenging transactional matters. Mr. Basile's practice focuses on complex cross-border M&A transactions, control and minority investments, joint ventures and strategic alliances in the United States, Canada, Europe, Asia and Latin America. Mr. Basile also advises publicly held companies regarding securities law issues, disclosure and compliance matters and corporate governance.
Mr. Basile is recognized for Corporate/M&A by Chambers USA, Legal 500 and PLC Which Lawyer? and for Private Equity Buyouts by Chambers USA. He is an active member of both the International Bar Association and the Section of International Law of the American Bar Association, where he serves as Vice Chair of the International Mergers, Acquisitions and Joint Ventures Committee. Mr. Basile is also the author of numerous articles and a frequent speaker and panelist on M&A and corporate governance topics.
Mr. Basile is also active in non-profit and civic affairs. He is a member of the Executive Committee of the Massachusetts Business Roundtable, a member of the Board of Trustees of Stonehill College, a member of the Massachusetts General Hospital Department of Emergency Medicine Advisory Council and co-chair of the Board of Advisors of the Joseph W. Martin, Jr., Institute for Law and Society. He is also a former member of the Massachusetts State Ethics Commission.
