John P. Mastando III is a partner in Weil Gotshal’s Litigation department and is a member of the Complex Commercial Litigation group. Mr. Mastando has represented corporate clients in a wide range of disputes including insurance, reinsurance, private equity, antitrust, nationwide class actions, intellectual property, contract, partnership, fraud, and unfair and deceptive acts and practices litigations. He also has extensive experience in ICC arbitrations. Mr. Mastando has been counsel to clients in numerous industries, including electronics, professional services organizations, financial services firms, insurance companies, telecommunications companies, television networks and Internet websites.

Mr. Mastando is currently secretary of the Committee on Professional and Judicial Ethics of the Association of the Bar of the City of New York, and was previously a member from 2002-2005.
While at Weil Gotshal, Mr. Mastando has lectured on issues including the enforceability of liquidated damages provisions, and has been a frequent instructor in deposition and evidence workshops. He is also a member of the firm’s Hiring and Ethics Committees, and has been a Summer Associate Program coordinator for many years.
From December 1999 – May 2000, Mr. Mastando was seconded to Citigroup, where he reported to the general counsel for litigation on all aspects of numerous matters.
In 1998, Mr. Mastando clerked for the Honorable Federico A. Moreno of the US District Court for the Southern District of Florida, where he worked on all aspects of over 200 civil and criminal matters, including numerous jury trials. He is also a member of the litigation sections of the American and New York State Bar Associations.
