Jason A.B. Smith is a partner in the New York office of Weil, Gotshal & Manges LLP and is a member of the Structured Finance and Derivatives practice.
He has extensive experience in structuring rental car fleet financings collateralized bond and loan obligations (including broadly-syndicated, middle market loans and distressed debt), as well as a wide range of synthetic/derivative products including credit default swaps, total return swaps and credit-linked notes.
Mr. Smith has participated in the securitization of auto loans, commercial loans, student loans, equipment loans, credit card receivables, trade receivables, equipment and vehicle leases, as well as royalty receivables and other intellectual property in both the term and commercial paper markets.
In his practice, he represents corporate and financial institutions in their capacities as underwriters, liquidity providers, credit enhancers and investors in corporate and structured securities offerings, both in the US and abroad.
Mr. Smith has also worked with many distressed securitization sponsors/vehicles, representing such sponsors and their credit enhancers and potential purchasers including in bankruptcy proceedings.
