James Cousins is an associate in the capital markets practice of Weil, Gotshal & Manges’ London office.

His principal areas of expertise include equity issues (IPOs and secondary offerings) and high yield debt offerings, having been a member of teams representing issuers such as IFCO Systems N.V., Premier Foods plc and GlobeOp Financial Services S.A. and underwriters such as BNP Paribas, Calyon and Société Générale. In addition, James has worked on a variety of cross-border structured debt and equity investments, including a variety of lending transactions, distressed credit opportunities, restructurings and emerging market investments for hedge fund clients of the firm such as Eton Park, Oaktree Capital and WL Ross & Co LLC, in addition to certain private equity clients such as Lion Capital, Advent International and Blackstone. James has also worked in Weil Gotshal’s Silicon Valley office.

James is a member of the London office pro bono committee. He has also authored several articles, including “European Regulatory Initiatives Affecting Private Equity Sponsors and Hedge Funds” for the December 2008 edition of Private Equity Alert and in April 2009 spoke about “Investment entities and the application of the listing regime to debt” at The Listing Regime 2009 Butterworths Conference in London.
