Irini Kalamakis is an associate in the Corporate Department of Weil, Gotshal and Manges LLP. Her practice focuses on public and private mergers and acquisitions, including leveraged buy outs, dispositions of both public and private companies, minority investments, joint ventures and recapitalizations, as well as counseling clients on a variety of corporate governance, securities law, and strategic matters.
Irini has recently been involved, as part of a team, in the following transactions: the representation of Ontario Teachers' Pension Plan Board in its $1.3 billion consortium acquisition of Blue Coat Systems, Inc., a publicly traded company (December 2011); the representation of Public Sector Pension Investment Board in its $6.3 billion consortium acquisition of Kinetic Concepts, Inc., a publicly traded company (November 2011); the representation of Lehman Brothers Holdings, Inc., in connection with the spin-off of its European mezzanine debt business (May 2010); and the representation of HM Capital Partners in the acquisition of a 70% stake in organize produce supplier Earthbound Farm (July 2009).
Irini received her BA, magna cum laude, from Columbia University, her Master of Studies, with distinction, from Oxford University, and her JD, with honors, from the George Washington University Law School.
She is admitted to the State Bar of New York.
