Irini Kalamakis is an associate in the firm’s Corporate Department and is based in New York and London. Her practice focuses on public and private mergers and acquisitions, including leveraged buy outs, dispositions of both public and private companies, minority investments, joint ventures and recapitalizations, as well as counseling clients on a variety of corporate governance, securities law and strategic matters.
Ms. Kalamakis’ recent transactions include:
- the representation of Lion Capital LLP in the £1.2 billion sale of a 60% interest in Weetabix Food Co., the iconic breakfast cereal maker (November 2012);
- the representation of Ontario Teachers' Pension Plan Board in its $1.3 billion consortium acquisition of Blue Coat Systems, Inc., a publicly traded company (December 2011);
- the representation of Guggenheim Partners LLC in its acquisition of Rydex / SGI, creating an investment manager with over $190 billion in assets (September 2011);
- the representation of Public Sector Pension Investment Board in its $6.3 billion consortium acquisition of Kinetic Concepts, Inc., a publicly traded company (November 2011); and
- the representation of Lehman Brothers Holdings, Inc., in connection with the spin-off of its European mezzanine debt business, managing over €800 million in assets (May 2010).
Ms. Kalamakis received her B.A. (magna cum laude) from Columbia University, her Master of Studies (with distinction) from Oxford University, and her J.D. (with honors) from the George Washington University Law School. She is admitted to the State Bar of New York.
She was selected as a 2012 “Rising Star” for the New York Metro area by Super Lawyers magazine.
