Monitor International Environmental Developments

Environmental Requirements under Treaties and International Agreements

Coordinate and Oversee Environmental Issues Abroad for Global U.S. Businesses

With offices in Asia and Europe, Weil is well positioned to monitor developments in international environmental law and counsel clients on compliance issues.

Increasingly, US domestic environmental law is being made through international treaties and agreements; sometimes these treaties and agreements are directly focused on environmental issues, such as in connection with global warming; other times, environmental requirements are imposed as a consequence of commercial trade agreements. With its extensive involvement in international legal affairs, Weil is able to counsel clients on the environmental impacts of treaties and trade agreements, and represent clients’ interests to the US government as it pursues new agreements.

Today’s transactions often are global in nature and involve international clients. We work with our international offices and key consultants to address global environmental issues, including the implication of the European Union’s REACH initiative and analogous Asian provisions. Often we work with clients to implement global environmental programs, which often exceed local regulatory requirements.
