Giana Ortiz is an associate in the firm’s Litigation department and is based in the Dallas office. Her practice is focused primarily on complex commercial litigation. She has litigated a wide range of domestic and international disputes, including: breach of contract, insurance, employment, and shareholder disputes; actions in federal and state court and arbitration; and bankruptcy-related litigation matters. Ms. Ortiz has also been involved in a number of pro bono and bar association activities.
Before joining the firm, Ms. Ortiz taught bilingual kindergarten and third grade in low-income schools in Galveston, Texas. She attended law school on scholarship at the University of Houston and was named senior articles editor of the Houston Law Review. Following law school, Ms. Ortiz served as judicial law clerk to the Honorable Jorge Solis of the United States District Court for the Northern District of Texas.
Ms. Ortiz is a member of the State Bar of Texas Court Rules Committee, a member of the Texas Minority Counsel Program Steering Committee, an alumnus of the State Bar of Texas' Leadership class, a founding member of the State Bar of Texas Internship Program Steering Committee, and a member of the United Way Young Leaders.
