Diversity Fellowship For 1L Law School Students

Announced in October 2011, the Weil 1L Diversity Fellowship is open to current students at ABA-accredited law schools who have successfully completed the first semester of their first year of a full-time JD program, with an expected graduation date of spring 2016. All fellowship candidates must intend to practice law in a major city of the United States.

Weil will begin accepting applicants from potential scholarship candidates beginning December 1, 2013. An internal selection panel will evaluate all applications, considering such factors as overall commitment to diversity, work experience, and academic achievement. Finalists will also be interviewed for the Fellowship after applications are submitted, and the winner will be announced in March 2014.

The winning recipient of the Weil 1L Diversity Fellowship will be awarded a $10,000 scholarship for his/her second year of law school (2014-2015), contingent upon accepting an offer to join Weil’s 2014 summer associate program.

The Weil 1L Diversity Scholars Program application will be posted online in November for students interested in applying for the 1L Fellowship . The application process is open to all law school students who fulfill the fellowship’s eligibility requirements.
