Doug Nave heads up the European Competition Law practice in our London office. A US-qualified partner, he has a broad regulatory practice focusing on the competition laws of the EU and its Member States. Doug has represented companies in numerous economic sectors, including public media, emerging technologies, heavy industrial products, consumer branded goods, defense procurements, and retail/wholesale operations.
Doug has acted on a wide range of mergers & acquisitions, with a strong track record of winning unconditional clearances from both the European Commission and the United Kingdom’s Office of Fair Trading.
He counsels and represents a variety of companies in enquiries regarding their distribution practices, issues arising from potential abuse of dominance, regulatory complaints against problematic practices or transactions by suppliers, customers, or competitors, licensing of intellectual properties, and the like.
Doug's recent transactions include Panasonic's acquisition of Sanyo; Getty Images' acquisition of various competing suppliers of on-line digital media; the merger of Crompton Corp. and Great Lakes Chemicals into the world’s largest supplier of plastics additives; Kodak’s acquisition of its pre-press competitor Creo; Mitsubishi Heavy Industries’ joint venture for the development and production of nuclear power reactors with competitor Areva; Premier Foods' creation of an industry-leading company through the acquisition of numerous competing manufacturers including the acquisitions of RHM; business units of Campbell Soup Co., Kraft Foods, Nestle, and Cauldron Foods; and Staples' acquisition of Office World (a combination of the UK's only two office superstore chains).
