David Lefkowitz is a securities lawyer with more than 25 years of experience in the field and led the firm’s Capital Markets practice from 1999 through 2009. He has a diverse corporate finance practice, including representing issuers and investment banks in a wide variety of public and private equity and debt offerings. Mr. Lefkowitz has represented issuers and investment banks in more than 60 offerings with aggregate proceeds in excess of $60 billion. Mr. Lefkowitz represented NBC Universal in its $9 billion inaugural debt offerings and General Electric in its $15.2 billion offering of common and preferred stock. In addition, he represented General Motors in its $15 billion financing from the United States Department of the Treasury and various aspects of its restructuring. He also represented Genworth Financial, Inc. in its $2.8 billion IPO (and related offerings) and numerous subsequent debt and equity offerings, as well as a wide range of corporate matters. He recently represented H&R Block in its $500 million debt offering.

Mr. Lefkowitz also frequently represents companies and boards in a variety of securities, disclosure and corporate governance matters and has been active in representing corporations in various matters related to the collapse of the residential mortgage market a few years ago.

In 1996, Mr. Lefkowitz moved to London to help open the firm’s office there and lead its US Securities practice. He was active in the management and development of that office as it grew to more than 85 US and English qualified lawyers in just over three years. In 1999, Mr. Lefkowitz returned to the Capital Markets practice in the firm’s New York office.

Mr. Lefkowitz was selected as one of The American Lawyer’s “Dealmakers of the Year” in 2005 for his work on the Genworth IPO. Mr. Lefkowitz was also ranked the #1 IPO lawyer in 2004 (by total offering amount) by IPO Vital Signs. At age 35, he was selected by The National Law Journal for its “40 Under 40” listing of 40 “rising stars in the law” under age 40.

Mr. Lefkowitz is regularly named as a leading lawyer for Capital Markets: Debt & Equity in Chambers USA and Chambers Global.

Mr. Lefkowitz is the Chairman of the New York Regional Board of the American Heart Association and was the Co-Chairman of its 2011 and 2012 Wall Street Run and Heart Walks, which raised more than $3.5 million.
