Conray C. Tseng is a senior associate in Weil’s Business Finance & Restructuring department.

Mr. Tseng advises clients in distressed and special situations and is known for his client service, creative problem solving, advocacy, crisis leadership, and complex case management. Mr. Tseng has also applied his restructuring experience in areas outside of the typical distressed context, including advising the leading U.S. and UK investment banks in the preparation of their resolution plans under the Dodd-Frank Act.

Notable distressed company representations include Lehman Brothers, General Motors, MF Global UK Ltd, MF Global’s UK broker dealer in the first the UK Special Administration Regime proceeding; BearingPoint, the first major successful reorganizations of a consulting firm; Aleris International, in the restructuring of both Aleris’ U.S. and European operations; U.S. Shipping Partners, in the pre-arranged chapter 11 case of a Jones Act shipper; and LandSource, one of the largest land developer restructurings.

Notable creditor and lender representations include TBS International, DVB Bank, as agent bank and DIP lender; In Tronox, Anadarko, as creditor and fraudulent transfer defendant; In Calpine, M&T Bank, as indenture trustee, for the CalGen third lien notes; and In Iridium, the Official Committee of Unsecured Creditors.

Mr. Tseng has also advised bidders in section 363 auctions, plan sponsors, DIP lenders, equity holders and other interested parties in various other matters.

In his pro bono work, Mr. Tseng has advocated for individuals in New York City housing court as well as U.S. immigration court. As part of Weil’s Pay-It-Forward initiative, Mr. Tseng led efforts to translate an immigrants’ rights manual from English to Korean, Russian, and French to help reach hundreds of thousands of New York City’s newest residents. The manual has already been translated into Chinese and Spanish.

Mr. Tseng is a Director on the Board of the New Leadership Program for Legal Aid Society, a private, not-for-profit legal services organization, the oldest and largest in the nation, dedicated since 1876 to providing quality legal representation to low-income New Yorkers. Legal Aid Society is dedicated to one simple but powerful belief: that no New Yorker should be denied access to justice because of poverty.
