Christopher López is an associate in the Business, Finance & Restructuring department of Weil, Gotshal & Manges' Houston office. He has practiced in the areas of business reorganization and insolvency since 2003.
Mr. López has been involved in a number of significant Chapter 11 cases including AMR Corporation/American Airlines, Inc., WorldCom, Inc., Enron Corp., Global Crossing Limited, SemGroup, L.P., General Growth Properties, Inc., Express Energy Services, LP., and International Aluminum Corp.
Mr. López graduated from the University of Houston with a B.A. in psychology in 1996. He received his M.A. from Yale in 1999. In 2003, he received his J.D., with honors, from the University of Texas School of Law, where he was a member of the Texas International Law Journal and elected permanent class president for the class of 2003.
Mr. López is a member of the State Bar of Texas and the Houston Bar Association. He is admitted to practice before the United States District Court for the Southern District of Texas, Northern District of Texas and the Western District of Texas. Mr. López is a member of the Honorable Arthur L. Moller/David B. Foltz, Jr. American Inn of Court. In addition, he has studied cross-border and banking issues in Mexico. He has also been named a Rising Star by Texas Monthly magazine between 2010-2013.
Mr. López is a member of the board of directors of the Hispanic Bar Association of Houston.
