Cheri E. Bessellieu is an associate in the Complex Commercial Litigation and Intellectual Property & Media practice groups in Weil’s New York office. Ms. Bessellieu has worked on matters in a broad range of industries, including media and entertainment, advertising, financial services, transportation, energy and technology infrastructure, and manufacturing. Ms. Bessellieu has counseled clients and litigated matters in substantive areas such as music licensing, copyright infringement, trade secret, complex contractual disputes, and regulatory investigations.
Ms. Bessellieu has achieved significant victories through her pro bono work at the firm. She was part of a team that obtained a jury verdict for a prisoner who sued four New York Department of Corrections officers under 42 U.S.C. § 1983 for retaliating against him in violation of the First Amendment. Ms. Bessellieu has also counseled small business owners regarding copyright, trademark and trade secret issues.
Ms. Bessellieu received her JD from Fordham University School of Law in 2008, where she was a member of the Fordham Law Review. She graduated from University of Pennsylvania in 2005 with a BA in Sociology. Ms. Bessellieu is admitted to practice before the courts of the state of New York, as well as the United States District Court for the Southern and Eastern Districts of New York.
