Weil Gotshal Sets New Firm Record in Chambers USA 2009 with 2 Awards, 4 "Star Performer" Individuals, 47 Practice Categories and 98 Ranked Attorneys
Harvey Miller Honored with "Lifetime Achievement" Award

NEW YORK, June 15, 2009 - Weil, Gotshal & Manges LLP garnered two awards at the annual Chambers USA awards dinner held on June 11, 2009 in New York City. Weil's Bankruptcy team received the "Chambers USA Award for Excellence" for that practice area. Senior Weil partner Harvey Miller was honored with a "Lifetime Achievement Award" for his outstanding leadership and excellence in bankruptcy and restructuring law.
In addition, Chambers "Guide to America's Leading Lawyers for Business" recognized Weil as a leading law firm across a broad spectrum of practice areas. The firm was ranked in 47 categories; among those, nine were ranked "Number 1": Bankruptcy/Restructuring - National; Bankruptcy/Restructuring - New York; Corporate/M&A - Texas; Financial Services Regulation: Consumer Financial Services Regulation - National; Intellectual Property - California; Intellectual Property - National; Investment Funds: Private Equity: Fund Formation - National; Media & Entertainment: Entertainment Litigation - New York.
Four Weil partners were designated as "Star Performers": the above mentioned Harvey Miller; Carlyn S. McCaffrey, chair of Weil's Trusts & Estates Department; Matthew D. Powers, co-head of the firm's Global Litigation Department; and James R. Westra, co-head of the firm's Private Equity practice. Chambers designates the "Star" ranking only to that elite group of attorneys who represent "the standard by which others are judged."
Eleven Weil attorneys received a "Number 1" ranking and 35 partners were ranked in Band 2, denoting outstanding lawyers in their respective fields of expertise. Establishing a new firm record, 98 individual Weil partners were ranked. A number of attorneys were ranked in more than one specialization, resulting in 110 total individual rankings.
