Cariza Arnedo is an associate in the Complex Commercial Litigation practice of Weil, Gotshal & Manges LLP with a particular focus on white collar criminal defense, FCPA compliance, securities enforcement, and internal investigations and audits. She has experience across a range of industries, including financial services, insurance, oil and gas, and defense. Ms. Arnedo also was recently seconded to the in-house legal department of a major international insurance and financial services organization to work on a variety of litigation and corporate compliance issues.
Prior to joining the firm, Ms. Arnedo served as a Special Assistant Attorney General for the District of Columbia as part of a Public Interest Fellowship Program. Ms. Arnedo represented the District of Columbia government and its various agencies in more than a dozen civil litigation matters involving both constitutional and common law claims. She participated in all stages of litigation and co-chaired a jury trial that resulted in a favorable victory for the District of Columbia Department of Corrections.
Ms. Arnedo obtained her JD from The George Washington University Law School, where she served as a member of the American Intellectual Property Law Association Quarterly Journal, an Executive Member of the Moot Court Board, and a Legal Writing Fellow. She earned a BA in Government and Women’s Studies from Georgetown University in 2005. Ms. Arnedo is fluent in Spanish.
Ms. Arnedo is admitted to the bars of the District of Columbia and the Commonwealth of Virginia and is an active member of the Women’s Bar Association of the District of Columbia.
