We have a first half summer program and recommend that summer associates plan to spend at least six weeks in the Houston office.

Are summer associates assigned mentors?
Yes. Each summer associate is matched to an associate mentor in the Houston office. Mentors are in contact with the summer associate before beginning at the firm and after departure from the summer program.

Can a summer associate do a rotation in another Weil office?
Opportunities to spend time in one of our other offices are available and such requests will be considered on a case-by-case basis.

Can summer associates work on pro bono matters?
Yes. Summer associates work on a wide variety of pro bono matters during the summer. Please contact the Recruiting Department for more detailed information.

Do summer associates travel for work?
Occasionally, summer associates travel for work-related assignments. Most stay in Houston throughout the summer. However, summer associates may travel to other US cities and abroad on the same terms as permanent associates in connection with transactions or trial-related matters.

What is the firm's dress code?
Our dress code is business casual, unless circumstances (e.g., a court appearance or client meeting) require full business attire. Each summer associate represents the firm to its clients and visitors and should present a professional image at all times. Friday is jeans day. If circumstances allow, summer associates can wear jeans on Fridays.

Where do summer associates typically live?
Summer associates typically live in and around the Houston-Metro area. Before the summer program begins, summer associates are provided with a list of resources they can use to find summer housing. If you need help, please contact the Recruiting Department.
