Rotation Process & Feedback
We have in place a tried-and-true program for giving our summer associates maximum exposure to the substantive legal matters that define our practice.
We request that summer associates spend at least six weeks in our Dallas office, working in two practice areas of their choice. Work assignments are designed to expose summer associates to most aspects of our practice, including drafting and research projects, strategy sessions, client meetings, negotiations, closings, depositions, hearings and trials. For example, summer associates in the Corporate department typically help draft and negotiate acquisition or financing documents, participate in closings of public offerings and acquisitions and work on financing transactions and structurings of leveraged buyouts. Litigation summer associates research jury charges and motions, assess the strengths and defenses of a new case, draft or answer discovery requests, observe depositions and hearings and prepare witnesses.
We give summer associates feedback, providing reviews of their performance throughout the summer.
