Jason was a summer associate in the New York office and began his career in the Mergers and Acquisitions group there. He appreciates the sophisticated and challenging work experience he is getting in Miami.
At Weil if you say you want to learn or do something the partners will give you the opportunity – you’re not limited. I need to stay exposed to cutting edge information because my work changes based on what’s going on in the market. And while the formal in-house training I received was great when I want outside training the firm will send me to the best seminar or course, wherever it is being given, and even ask me to report back on what I’ve learned. I really believe that if I let the associates and partners know what I want to do there’s no cap on what I can do.
The quality of the work here has exceeded my expectations. I read the Wall Street Journal and there’s the deal I’m working on. As a summer associate I was involved with the sale of Universal entertainment to Vivendi and got to travel to Paris and perform tasks that otherwise would have been handled by a junior associate. And here in the Miami office I had the opportunity to be part of the team that worked on a major public-to-private acquisition of a prominent real estate trust.
We deal with attorneys from all of our branches. Every time a question arises we ask where in the firm is the best person to answer it. When a client was looking into purchasing a sports team the managing partner of another office called Miami for help with Florida issues. And recently I was privileged to work with attorneys from London, Miami and Washington DC on a deal involving a large commercial property in London. It was a great example of Weil’s one firm approach.
