Bruce Meyer is a Litigation partner at Weil, Gotshal & Manges LLP and has been at the firm since 1986. Mr. Meyer has specialized in complex commercial litigations and arbitrations in a wide variety of industries and has a long track record of success. He has extensive jury trial experience, having tried lengthy and complex cases to juries in locales across the country, including New York, Pittsburgh, Minneapolis, western Massachusetts, Boston, and Texas. His trial experience also includes numerous arbitrations (including private, ICC, AAA, sports and reinsurance arbitrations), preliminary injunction hearings, bench trials and bankruptcy confirmation hearings.

Among other notable victories, Mr. Meyer obtained punitive damages and attorneys fees after trial in a trade secret case in connection with solar panel technology; obtained a mandatory preliminary injunction in a high-profile case involving the launch of a major music television channel; successfully defended a nuclear equipment manufacturer in a multi-billion dollar products liability action, resulting in a defendant's jury verdict after a three-month trial; prevailed in a complex six week reinsurance arbitration; achieved a complete defense verdict for a major advertiser after a three-week false advertising jury trial; achieved a complete defense verdict in a bankruptcy preference action against a lender; obtained summary judgment dismissing all claims in a suit alleging trademark, false advertising and trade secret violations against a leading pharmaceutical company; won a bench trial in a landmark trademark case against the leading online auction house; won a bench trial involving music licensing for satellite radio; and prevailed in arbitrations for an industrial engine manufacturer and a leading French private equity firm.

In addition to general complex commercial litigation, areas of specialty include intellectual property, media, sports and false advertising law. In the false advertising area, Mr. Meyer has successfully represented and counseled clients including worldwide pharmaceutical and consumer goods companies on a wide variety of advertising issues, including litigations, network challenges and proceedings before the National Advertising Division of the Council of Better Business Bureaus. In the intellectual property area, Mr. Meyer has won cases for clients such as The Walt Disney Company, GlaxoSmithKline, eBay, XM Satellite Radio, Specialized Technology Resources, Getty Images and the NFL Players Association, involving copyrights, trademarks, rights of publicity and trade secrets.

Mr. Meyer has been an adjunct professor at Fordham University School of Law and St. John's University School of Law. He has spoken on commercial litigation, intellectual property, advertising, sports and product liability issues at numerous conferences and seminars and at a number of law schools including Yale, Columbia, Marquette, Villanova, Fordham and Boston University. He is the co-author of the three-volume treatise International Sports Law and Business.

Mr. Meyer received his B.A. from the University of Pennsylvania and his J.D., from Boston University School of Law, where he was a member of the Boston University Law Review.
