Weil has a distinguished global corporate presence with nine offices across the United States and a further 11 offices internationally. Private equity is a traditional strength of the firm and its M&A practice has been bolstered recently by the group's increasing presence in healthcare and life sciences, energy and media deals. The New York team recently represented France-based pharmaceutical company Sanofi in its $20.1 billion acquisition of American biotechnology giant Genzyme. This was one of the largest M&A deals of the past year, and one of the largest biotechnology deals of all time.
Commercial Awareness "The lawyers know us very, very well and we have used them on the majority of deals over the last ten years. They know what we care about, know our different partners and what they care about, and are very up to speed on the market."
Client Service "The firm seamlessly taps their other offices on deals, which is great."
Co-head of the New York private equity and M&A department, Michael Aiello has had a landmark year representing Sanofi and GSI Commerce.
