Andrzej Miklas is an advocate and partner at Weil, Gotshal & Manges LLP’s Warsaw office, where he heads the Litigation and Dispute Resolution department. His collaboration with the Firm began in 2000.
His practice encompasses the litigation aspects of company, criminal and contract law. He has advised the Polish National Investment Funds and other listed companies, as well as the Polish State Treasury, in litigation proceedings concerning the proper functioning of those entities and other commercial matters. He successfully represented a large Polish state-owned company in a dispute regarding the ownership of land and substantial lease payments. Mr. Miklas also specializes in disputes related to energy law, and has represented the largest Polish energy companies in court disputes.
Mr. Miklas’ expertise in dispute resolution has been consistently recognized by publications such as Chambers & Partners, PLC Which Lawyer?, and The Legal 500. In 2009 the Rzeczpospolita recommended him as one of the best attorneys in Poland specializing in litigation and arbitration.
Mr. Miklas graduated from the Faculty of Law and Administration of the University of Warsaw in 1987 and was admitted to practice in Poland as an advocate in 1993. He has been a member of the Commission for Amending Law at the District Advocate Council in Warsaw since 1994, He is fluent in Polish, English and German.
