DALLAS – October 15, 2009 – Yvette Ostolaza, a commercial litigation partner in the Dallas office of Weil, Gotshal & Manges LLP – one of the world’s leading international law firms – has been selected by the Dallas Women Lawyers Association (DWLA) as the 2009 Louise B. Raggio Award recipient. Each year, the DWLA presents the award to a person demonstrating the highest level of professionalism and who has contributed significantly to the advancement of women attorneys.

“It is a great privilege to present Yvette Ostolaza the Louise B. Raggio Award,” said Krisi Kastl, DWLA Judicial Reception chair. “The Raggio Award celebrates the achievements of Louise B. Raggio, who fought for the equality of women while raising a family. Yvette is a leader in her law firm, a mother of three and a mentor to many women in the legal community. She is an obvious choice to receive this award.”

The DWLA Judicial Reception Committee selected Ostolaza from a pool of candidates. She will officially receive the award during the DWLA Judicial Reception on November 5, 2009 at the Park City Club in Dallas.

Ostolaza is co-head of Weil Gotshal’s firm-wide Complex Commercial Litigation practice, where she concentrates in the trial and supervision of complex civil litigation and arbitration in state and federal courts throughout the United States. Fluent in Spanish, she regularly manages litigation and arbitration matters with ties to Latin America and has represented corporations, audit committees and individual board members in internal investigations involving whistleblower, accounting and executive issues. In addition, she has counseled clients on reducing risks from consumer and advertising-related claims and negotiated with state agencies on such claims.

Ostolaza has been recognized by her peers as a Texas “Super Lawyer” in 2005, 2006, 2007 and 2008 and has repeatedly been recognized by Chambers USA: America’s Leading Lawyers for Business in the Litigation: General Commercial category. She was named as one of the “Defenders” – the top 15 business defense attorneys in the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex – in 2008 by the Dallas Business Journal and the Association of Corporate Counsel. Ostolaza has served on numerous boards including the Baylor Health Care Foundation and The Dallas Concilio of Hispanic Service Organizations. She currently serves on the State Bar of Texas board of directors.

Ostolaza is an honors graduate from the University of Miami and received her J.D., magna cum laude, from the University of Miami School of Law.
