Vernon Broderick concentrates his practice in complex commercial litigation. He represents corporations and executives in matters related to white collar crime and government investigations. Mr. Broderick has represented the firm’s clients in investigations by federal and state authorities, and has represented executives in complex criminal matters involving allegations of violations environmental laws, RICO, money laundering, bribery, mail and wire fraud, etc. Mr. Broderick has also participated in conducting internal investigations on behalf of the firm’s corporate clients in various industries. He also conducted investigations on behalf of an international corporation of alleged wrongdoing made by “whistleblowers,” and supervised similar investigations by in-house compliance counsel for this corporation.
Mr. Broderick was an assistant US attorney in the Southern District of New York for eight years. While at the US Attorney’s Office, he served as chief of the Violent Gangs Unit, and investigated and prosecuted cases involving organized crime, international narcotics trafficking and violent crimes, including murder, kidnapping, robbery, extortion and assault. Mr. Broderick was a recipient of the Justice Department’s Director’s Award for Superior Performance as an Assistant US Attorney in both 1997 and 1998. Mr. Broderick has written and argued numerous appeals before the US Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit. Prior to serving as an assistant US attorney, Mr. Broderick worked as an associate at Weil, Gotshal & Manges.
Mr. Broderick is a member of the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers and the New York Council of Defense Lawyers. He has been a Commissioner on the Commission to Combat Police Corruption in New York City since his appointment by Mayor Michael Bloomberg in 2003. Mr. Broderick is a member of the Board of Directors of the LatinoJustice PRLDEF, and the Board of Directors for the Justice Resource Center of New York City.
