Stephen is the head of the London banking group. Previously a partner at Clifford Chance and Linklaters, he joined Weil in 2011. Stephen has over 10 years’ experience as a partner advising sponsors, financial institutions, funds, and corporates on financings through the credit spectrum including leveraged and finance, bridges to securitisations, debt portfolio sales, and restructurings. Stephen has worked for extended periods on secondment at Citi, Barclays Capital and HSBC, including in leveraged and finance teams.
Stephen is listed as Band 1 in Chambers UK for Banking and Finance lawyers. He is described as "one of the best lawyers in the City" and Chambers UK notes especially "Stephen Lucas pays an enormous amount of personal attention to clients and deals." IFLR comments that "Stephen Lucas is the one praised most often by clients for the quality of his work." The Times described him as the "star player" in 2011, following his work on the Schaeffler restructuring.
