Stéphane Chaouat is a partner and a recognized expert in French domestic and international corporate and individual tax law, including indirect taxes. He serves a wide variety of clients, including public and private companies, financial institutions, private equity funds and individuals. Mr. Chaouat has a broad and varied practice with particular experience within the industry and banking sectors, focusing especially on tax-efficient structuring of domestic and cross-border corporate mergers & acquisitions (public and private), joint ventures, partnerships, reorganizations, long-term financing transactions, real estate, securitization and dispute resolution. Mr. Chaouat has also given extensive tax-planning advice on complex individual matters, in connection, for instance, with executive compensation (stock options and other similar instruments), change of residence, trusts, and wealth-tax issues.
Prior to joining Weil, Mr. Chaouat was at Cleary Gottlieb Steen & Hamilton, where he practiced in Paris and New York.
