Robert Shmalo is an associate in the Corporate Department of Weil, Gotshal & Manges’ New York office. Mr. Shmalo has particular experience in the real estate, private equity and banking industries. He regularly represents financial institutions and real estate investors in lending and financing matters, joint ventures, acquisitions, hotel developments, and commercial leasing matters. Mr. Shmalo has negotiated real estate joint venture developments, sales, and financings for properties and developments located in many US states, Canada and Mexico.
Mr. Shmalo is a member of the Association of the Bar of the City of New York. He has also served as a member of the Athlete Advisory Committee of US Figure Skating and is currently a Trustee of the US Figure Skating Foundation.
On a personal note, Mr. Shmalo was an national medalist, international competitor, and named as an alternate to the 2002 Salt Lake City Winter Olympic Games in the sport of Ice Dancing.
