Mark Schwed is a senior associate in the New York office of the firm’s Tax, Benefits, and Executive Compensation Department. His practice focuses on representing public companies and private equity sponsors and their portfolio companies in connection with domestic and international acquisitions and investments, divestitures, joint ventures, financings and restructurings.

Mr. Schwed was recently part of the team of Weil attorneys advising longtime client Thomas H. Lee Partners on its bid to recapitalize and take control of Party City, the nation's largest party goods retailer, from a group of private investors in a transaction valued at over $2.6 billion. Over the past five years, Mr. Schwed has also been a member of the Weil team advising Lehman Brothers in connection with its investment in Archstone, its single largest asset, a privately-held owner, operator, and developer of multifamily apartment properties. In February 2012, Lehman Brothers sold its entire stake in Archstone to Equity Residential and AvalonBay Communities Inc. in a deal valued in excess of $16 billion.

Mr. Schwed received his B.A., cum laude, from Ramapo College of New Jersey, his J.D., magna cum laude, from the Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law, where he was a member of the Cardozo Law Review and of the Order of the Coif, and his LL.M. in Taxation from New York University School of Law.
