Marilyn French is a partner in the firm's Corporate department. Ms. French has a diverse practice which focuses on private equity transactions, including leveraged buyouts, minority investments and public-to-private transactions, and mergers & acquisitions. Ms. French regularly represents some of the country's leading private equity firms.

Representative transactions include:

  • Representing Advent International in its agreement to acquire a majority stake in the parent company of Serta and Simmons bedding
  • Representing Advent International and Goldman Sachs in their acquisition of TransUnion Corp.
  • Representing Fifth Third Processing in its acquisition of NPC Group
  • Representing Advent International in its acquisition of Vantiv and Vantiv’s subsequent IPO
  • Representing Advent International in its going-private acquisition of retailer Charlotte Russe
  • Representing Shoes for Crews in the sale of the company
  • Representing THL Partners in its minority investment in Sterling Financial
  • Representing Michael Foods in its sale to GS Capital Partners
  • Representing Advent International in its acquisition of retailer Five Below
  • Representing Bartlett Energy, Berkshire Partners and Summit Partners in the sale of Bartlett
  • Representing Advent International and Bain in their acquisition of Worldpay
  • Representing Advent International in their joint venture with Fifth Third Bank

Ms. French was named “Dealmaker of the Week” by The Am Law Daily for week ending August 10, 2012 in connection with her lead role advising Advent International in its acquisition of a majority stake in AOT Bedding Super Holdings, the parent company of Serta and Simmons Bedding. Ms. French was also recognized in Chambers USA 2005-2013 in the field of Private Equity.

Ms. French graduated from Hofstra University (B.A., magna cum laude, 1987) and from Boston College Law School (J.D., cum laude, 1990; Order of the Coif). Ms. French is admitted to practice in Massachusetts and Rhode Island.
