Kevin F. Meade, a senior associate in the firm’s Litigation Department, has extensive experience litigating complex commercial disputes, including several large class actions and multidistrict litigation. Mr. Meade has represented clients in a broad variety of cases in federal and state court, as well as before administrative agencies.

Mr. Meade has recently been involved in litigating several significant matters, including a trial victory for Lehman Brothers challenging Bank of America’s seizure of $500 million of deposited funds shortly before Lehman’s bankruptcy. The Bankruptcy Court ruled in Lehman’s favor and ordered the return of $595 million (including 9% interest) to Lehman. See 439 B.R. 811 (Bankr. S.D.N.Y. 2010). Mr. Meade also helped obtain a complete dismissal for UnitedHealth Group and several of its affiliates in one of the first cases brought under the recently enacted New York State False Claims Act, seeking hundreds of millions of dollars in damages. See 84 A.D.3d 442 (1st Dep't 2011), and was part of the trial team that represented Trump Entertainment Resorts and its affiliates in connection with a hotly contested, nine-day confirmation hearing during their chapter 11 bankruptcy cases. See 428 B.R. 117 (Bankr. D. N.J. 2010). He also helped obtain a complete dismissal, on forum non conveniens grounds, of a complaint against WL Ross & Co., LLC arising out of a commercial transaction involving the acquisition of a business in India. See Digjam Limited v. WL Ross & Co. LLC (S.D.N.Y.). In addition, Mr. Meade has been on the teams representing General Electric, Tyco, General Motors, Intel, Reuters, and is currently representing Exxon Mobil Corporation, the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, and Credit Suisse in significant matters.

Mr. Meade has also represented many pro bono clients, including the National 9/11 Memorial & Museum, New York Lawyers for the Public Interest, the Lower Manhattan Development Corporation, and has participated in the New York Volunteer Appellate Defender program.

Mr. Meade joined the firm in 2005, and currently is a member of the firm’s Professional Development Committee. Prior to joining the firm, he served as law clerk to the Honorable Charles L. Brieant of the United States District Court for the Southern District of New York.

Mr. Meade is admitted to practice before the courts of the State of New York, as well as the United States District Courts for the Southern and Eastern Districts of New York.
