Weil Gotshal is pleased to announce that as of June 1, Holly Loiseau assumed her position as President of the Women's Bar Association of the District of Columbia. The WBA has over 750 members and has been nationally recognized for its work advancing women in the legal profession. As President, Ms. Loiseau will continue the groundbreaking work of the WBA Initiative on Advancement and Retention of Women and its focus on advancing women in-house counsel, research, analyze, and publish findings on issues impacting women in the legal profession such as compensation at the partner level and the billable hour discussion, and focus on increasing membership.
Ms. Loiseau is a litigation partner and a member of Weil's Complex Commercial Litigation and Product Liability practices. She has been an active member of Women@weil, the firm's women's network.
"It was a great pleasure to see Holly inducted as President of the WBA, but I can't say her election was unexpected given the drive and commitment to the association I have witnessed since she began her participation as an associate," said David Berz, former Managing Partner of Weil's Washington, DC office.
Founded in 1917, the Women's Bar Association celebrated its 92nd anniversary this year, making it one of the oldest and largest voluntary bar associations in metropolitan Washington, D.C. Today the association continues to pursue its mission of "maintaining the honor and integrity of the profession; promoting the administration of justice; advancing and protecting the interests of women lawyers; promoting their mutual improvement; and encouraging a spirit of friendship among our members."
