Gregory D. Hull
Weil, Gotshal & Manges LLP

Greg Hull is senior counsel to Weil’s Litigation Department, where he has been integral to the development of Weil’s dynamic and growing Silicon Valley complex commercial litigation practice. A trial lawyer with nearly forty years of experience, he has tried dozens of cases to verdict in fifteen different counties in California, and has broad experience in both state and federal court litigations involving contract, tort, and real estate claims, among others. Mr. Hull’s trial experience and acumen – including representation of clients in class action and multi-district litigation, and in litigations based on consumer claims, products liability, intellectual property and professional negligence – have been recognized by highly regarded trial advocacy organizations such as the American Board of Trial Advocates and the International Society of Barristers, and earned him a reputation as a “lawyer’s lawyer” by peers and colleagues.

Since joining Weil in late 2005, Mr. Hull has dedicated his practice to matters that derive from the commerce and character of the Valley, including trade secret litigation, licensing litigation, unfair business practices litigation brought under California’s Unfair Competition Law and the Consumers Legal Remedies Act, as well as other forms of intellectual property infringement and contract litigation. In this regard, Mr. Hull represented Airborne, a manufacturer of health supplements, in a massive false advertising class action that eventually involved agencies of the Federal Government, the attorneys general of numerous states as well as the plaintiff consumer class. Mr. Hull has also represented numerous Silicon Valley clients, including Net App, Apple, Adobe Systems, PDL, Lumicyte, Redwood Systems, Micron, and Miasole, as well as other, national clients such as Lehman Brothers, United HealthCare, Tenet, Getty Images and Alliant Insurance Services, on a broad range of commercial disputes.

In addition, Mr. Hull has deep experience with and knowledge of employee mobility jurisprudence in California, and frequently provides guidance to members of the firm on such issues on both the transactional and litigation sides of the practice. He and other members of the Department have published on this subject and continue to refine the firm’s capacity to deliver cutting-edge litigation strategy and results on matters involving these issues.

Mr. Hull is also a sought-after teacher and lecturer in the area of trial practice and advocacy. He is an adjunct professor of trial advocacy at California’s oldest accredited night law school – Lincoln Law School of San Jose, California – and is a frequent panelist / participant in trial advocacy programs, including those associated with Stanford Law School, the University of San Francisco Law School, and Hastings College of the Law. Mr. Hull has served as a mediator in numerous matters and has served as Judge Pro Tem for the San Francisco Superior Court, where he has presided over both jury trials and appeals from the small claims court. Drawing on this unique experience, Mr. Hull regularly provides advice and counsel to practicing lawyers, both inside and outside of the firm, who seek out his knowledge and experience in regard to California courts, mediators, arbitrators and law.
