Érica Franzetti is an associate in the International Arbitration practice group in Weil’s Washington, DC office. Her practice focuses on international commercial and investor-state arbitrations. She has experience in disputes conducted under the rules of the International Center for Settlement of Investment Disputes (ICSID), the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC), the United Nations Commission on International Trade Law (UNCITRAL), and the International Centre for Dispute Resolution (ICDR).
Following law school, Ms. Franzetti was an associate at one of the leading firms in the field of dispute resolution in her native Brazil, where she worked on complex litigation proceedings involving a wide range of industries, including energy, telecommunications, financial and pharmaceutical. Her experience includes disputes conducted before several Brazilian state and federal courts, such as the Brazilian Superior Court of Justice and the Supreme Court of Justice. She also participated in arbitration proceedings before the Chamber of Mediation and Arbitration of São Paulo and administrative proceedings before the Brazilian Electricity Regulatory Agency (ANEEL). In addition, Ms. Franzetti provided legal assistance in connection with public bids, including the first public-private partnership in the Brazilian highway sector.
Ms. Franzetti is an active member of several professional organizations, including the ICC/USCIB Young Arbitrators Forum (YAF), the ICDR Young and International LCIA Young International Arbitration Group (YIAG), the New York State Bar Association, and the American Bar Association Section of International Law. She was recently named as an “Associate to Watch” in Chambers Global 2013 in the International Arbitration (Latin America) category.
Ms. Franzetti is fluent in Portuguese, English and Spanish.
