Eric J. Peterman is a partner in the New York office of Weil, Gotshal & Manges LLP and is a member of the Structured Finance/Derivatives practice. Mr. Peterman has substantial experience representing underwriters, placement agents, issuers and collateral managers in synthetic and nonsynthetic collateralized debt obligation transactions (CDOs).
Mr. Peterman has acted as deal counsel for numerous synthetic CDOs and for numerous cash-flow CDOs, including high-yield CDOs, ABS CDOs, emerging market CDOs and CDOs of CDOs. In addition, he has advised leading investment banks and other institutions on complex credit derivative transactions, including portfolio swaps.
Mr. Peterman is a member of the firm’s Financial Regulatory Reform Working Group. He counsels clients concerning the impact of new financial reform legislation on a range of structured financial products and derivatives transactions.
Prior to joining Weil, Mr. Peterman was a partner at Fried, Frank, Harris, Shriver & Jacobson. In addition to his structured finance and derivatives experience, during the course of his career he has counseled lenders and borrowers in connection with commercial loan facilities as well as bankruptcies and restructurings.
