David P. Kreisler is a partner in the firm's Corporate Department and was one of the original partners of the firm's Boston office. He specializes in private equity matters, particularly fund formation.
Mr. Kreisler regularly represents private equity sponsors and their investment funds in connection with their organization and administration, including the acquisition, disposition and financing of their portfolio companies. Mr. Kreisler also represents institutional investors and has been involved in the acquisition of private equity firms and money managers and regularly advises clients on the formation of limited and general partnerships and limited liability companies. His clients include Thomas H. Lee Partners, Berkshire Partners, Quantum Energy Partners, Brookfield Asset Management and The Gores Group.
Mr. Kreisler has written and spoken on a variety of topics relating to private investment funds. He is listed in the Best of the Best USA 2008 guide. Mr. Kreisler has consistently been recognized in Chambers USA as a leader in the field of Private Equity: Fund Formation since 2006, and in the area of Private Equity: Fund Formation 2011. He was included in The Legal 500 USA 2009 for Investment Fund Formation: Private Equity in the US. Mr. Kreisler was also ranked by The Best Lawyers in America in 2007-2012. According to Chambers USA 2009, "David Kreisler leads the practice in Boston and is endorsed by clients for his 'excellent judgment where sensitive matters are concerned.'” Mr. Kreisler was named one of America's "Top 25 Pre-Eminent Private Equity Lawyers" by The Best of the Best USA 2010. Mr. Kreisler was also named a "World's Leading Investment Funds Lawyer" by Euromoney Expert Guide 2010. In addition, Mr. Kreisler was selected by International Financial Law Review for its 2010 Guide to the World's Leading Investment Funds Lawyers.
Mr. Kreisler graduated from Princeton University (AB, 1988) and Syracuse University College of Law (J.D. magna cum laude, 1991), where he served as a member of the Syracuse Law Review and the editor of the 1991 Annual Survey of New York Law.
