Damali Peterman is an associate in Weil’s Mergers & Acquisitions practice group based in New York. Her practice focuses on complex corporate and transactional matters, including domestic and cross-border mergers and acquisitions, private equity, joint ventures, and restructuring transactions. Ms. Peterman is also involved in providing counsel to companies regarding general corporate law, corporate governance, and strategic matters.
Ms. Peterman has been part of several teams advising on a range of transactions, including:
- Evercore Partners, financial advisor to the Special Committee of the Board of Directors of Dell, in Dell’s $24.4 billion going-private acquisition
- Arca Continental S.A.B. de C.V. in connection with the acquisition of Wise Foods Inc.
- Grupo Industrial Saltillo, S.A.B. de C.V. in the sale of auto parts castings businesses to the Brazilian company, TUPY
- Brookfield Renewable Power, Inc. in the acquisition of wind power farms
- Arca Continental S.A.B. de C.V. in connection with the establishment of a Central and South American beverage bottling joint venture with Ecuador Bottling Company
- Macquarie Bank in the acquisition of asset management firm Delaware Management Holdings
- Avista Capital Partners in the acquisition of IWCO Direct
- Sigma Alimentos, S.A. de C.V. with its senior notes offering
- Syncora Holdings Ltd. (formerly Security Capital Assurance) in connection with financial guaranty insurance restructuring
- Aleris International, Inc. in connection with corporate restructuring
Ms. Peterman received her B.A. in English with a Spanish minor from Spelman College in 2000, her M.A. in International Policy Studies with a certificate in Conflict Resolution from Monterey Institute of International Studies in 2002, and her J.D. from Howard University School of Law in 2008. Ms. Peterman has also studied in Mexico, Denmark, Japan, and the Netherlands, and has worked at Weil’s offices in Washington, D.C., Dallas, London, and Shanghai.
Ms. Peterman has contributed to Weil’s publications The Deal Compass (a monthly survey of publicly-announced US take-private and strategic deals) and Weil Survey: Sponsor-Backed Going Private Transactions (June 2010 and September 2011 editions).
Ms. Peterman is fluent in Spanish.
