Benay Lizarazu is a senior associate in Weil’s Corporate Department. Ms. Lizarazu concentrates her practice in commercial real estate finance, including construction, mezzanine, and securitized and syndicated finance transactions and joint ventures. Ms. Lizarazu’s practice also includes workout, settlement, and restructuring transactions, including numerous transactions to restructure the real estate assets of Lehman Brothers in its bankruptcy proceedings. In her practice, Ms. Lizarazu represents institutional lenders, insurance companies, finance companies, and other real estate investors and servicers in connection with commercial real estate financing transactions.
Ms. Lizarazu is a member of the American Bar Association and Weil’s Green Committee.
Ms. Lizarazu joined Weil’s Miami office in 2005. Previously she was a member of the commercial lending practice group of Katten Muchin Rosenman in Chicago, Illinois. Ms. Lizarazu earned her law degree from Washington University School of Law where she was a member of the Washington University Journal of Urban and Contemporary Law. Ms. Lizarazu graduated from Tulane University with a dual degree in Economics and Latin American Studies. She is admitted to practice in Florida and Illinois.
