Amber Lee Hagy (formerly Amber Hatfield Rovner) is in the Litigation Department where she concentrates her practice in intellectual property litigation and related appellate matters. She litigates patent disputes concerning a wide variety of technologies, including electronics, semiconductors, digital telephony, and computer software. She has been involved in cases concerning operating system software, telecommunications software and hardware, microprocessors, PC chipsets, semiconductor processing technology, televisions, analog-to-digital converters and video software.
Ms. Hagy has represented companies such as Microsoft, Samsung, Intel, National Instruments, 3M, Ericsson and Rockwell in patent litigation disputes in federal district and appellate courts across the country.
Ms. Hagy was an adjunct professor at the University of Texas School of Law for over ten years, where she was a member of a team teaching Appellate Advocacy and taught Patent Law, and was a coach of the UT Giles S. Rich National Moot Court teams from 1997 to 2003, which garnered several regional championships and a 2002 national championship.
Ms. Hagy is a founding Master of the Austin Intellectual Property Inn of Court, which is part of the Linn Inn Alliance in the American Inns of Court.
Ms. Hagy is a member and former president of the Austin Intellectual Property Law Association, and is also a former Council Member of the State Bar of Texas Computer & Technology Law Section.
Ms. Hagy is a member of the Texas Bar.
Ms. Hagy graduated high honors with a B.S.E.E. from the University of Texas at Austin in 1987. In 1990, she received her J.D. with high honors from the University of Texas School of Law, where she was the administrative editor of the Texas Law Review, grand chancellor and a member of the Order of the Coif. Following graduation from law school, Ms. Hagy served as a law clerk to the Honorable William Garwood of the United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit from 1990-1991.
Ms. Hagy has been recognized by her peers as a leader in the field of patent litigation in both Texas SuperLawyers and Best Lawyers in America.
