Allison M. Brown is a Litigation associate at Weil, Gotshal & Manges.

Ms. Brown has extensive experience at trial in commercial, pharmaceutical product liability, and mass tort matters. Over the last several years, Ms. Brown has been a senior member of multiple trial teams for Pfizer in the Hormone Therapy Litigation. She has worked to develop and prepare numerous science and medical expert witnesses, including epidemiologists, oncologists, radiologists, and pathologists. She has coordinated trial strategy and scientific theories, performed pre-trial briefing, and taken numerous depositions of plaintiffs, prescribing physicians and treating specialists. She was also a senior member of a trial team for GSK in the early stages of the Paxil birth defects litigation in the Philadelphia Court of Common Pleas, which was successfully resolved prior to trial. She was heavily involved in coordinating scientific theories and developing expert witnesses.

Ms. Brown also represented Bausch & Lomb in the contact lens solution litigation, which resulted in an early and favorable settlement of the litigation. Her role on behalf of Bausch included developing and preparing medical and FDA expert witnesses, as well as taking the depositions of ophthalmologists and corneal specialists. Ms. Brown’s broad experience preparing expert witnesses and taking doctor depositions extends to the Vioxx litigation on behalf of Merck and the Seroquel litigation on behalf of AstraZeneca.

Recently, Ms. Brown played an integral role on the trial team that that secured a defense verdict for Philip Morris USA, Inc., in a case brought by 37 St. Louis hospitals against six tobacco companies, claiming more than $455 million dollars in economic damages. Ms. Brown regularly argued evidentiary matters throughout the four-month trial, prepared key aspects of the defense case against the individual hospital witnesses, and handled numerous negotiations with opposing counsel. Ms. Brown is currently part of a trial team defending a global energy company in a complex environmental case in New Jersey state court and continues to perform various different trial roles on behalf of Philip Morris.

Ms. Brown has performed pro bono legal work for International Bridges to Justice and Equality Advocates Pennsylvania, as well as victims of Hurricane Katrina. She regularly appears in Philadelphia Family Court on behalf of the Support Center for Child Advocates, as a court appointed attorney for dependent children. She also successfully settled a Section 1983 civil rights case on behalf of a pro bono inmate.
